Community Initiatives We Sponsor & Participate In

QuickSilk is pleased to be an active and ongoing sponsor for the following community organizations:

The OK Clean Water Project takes its name from the link that has been developed between Ottawa, Canada and Kumbo, Cameroon, Africa.

The volunteers in Ottawa raise funds to support the water delivery systems being built in Kumbo and surrounding villages. The villagers in and around Kumbo volunteer their labour to build the water delivery structures and then receive training to manage and maintain the water supply. In doing so they establish ownership of their efforts.

Camp Micah is a one-week leadership camp for social justice and peace held every August near beautiful Bancroft, Ontario. Founded in 2009, the camp is led by a staff of young adults, teachers, ministers, school chaplains and peace educators with many years of experience working with youth and developing leadership programs. Coming from different Christian traditions (including Catholic, Mennonite and United Church), the Camp staff shares a common passion for living out the call to leadership for peace and social justice.

Camp Micah is a welcoming and inclusive community that values and celebrates the beautiful diversity of the human family. Come as you are! Camp Micah is a registered charity

The Capital City Condors are a family of ice hockey teams for those who are unable to play on any other hockey team due to a developmental disability. Players are ages 6 and up, of all ability levels and are each given a high degree of personal supervision by the Condors on-ice coaches.

How do we choose the initiatives we participate in?

While we'd love to help everyone, it's simply not possible - so we choose initiatives that have meaning for our families, friends, staff, long time clients and the communities in which they live. The initiatives we select to participate in exhibit one of more of the following attributes:

  • have lasting and positive community impact;
  • support established community oriented individuals and/or causes;
  • support community based not-for-profit initiatives; and/or
  • advance publicly accessible resources for North American based small businesses.

What sponsorship types are provided?

The type and level of sponsorship provided varies by project and may include:

  • service and product donations
  • reduced projects fees; and/or
  • Board participation
